It’s been a long wait for Rihanna’s
album R9 foray into skincare with Fenty Skin and after her announcement that it’s landing at the end of this month, excitement is high.
While her current cosmetics empire Fenty Beauty includes a few offerings for the skincare obsessives, namely her lip balm, lip scrub and glowy body oils, this line is kicking things up a notch. Before it’s launch though, Rihanna wants it made very clear that Fenty Skin is for everyone.
After sharing a short video on her Instagram of her using the products and looking extremely glowy, Rihanna also took to Twitter to promote the new launch. Replying to a couple of tweets from 2017—Rihanna is a master of the long game, it seems—she clarified that skincare has no gender. Replying to a tweet that read, “if rihanna come out with fenty skincare line for men i’m changing my middle name to Robyn,” the artist and empire runner wrote back, “Whoever told you skincare has a gender, LIED to you! Hi Robyn! Smiling 😊 #FENTYSKIN.”
Men, and we’d assume those outside binary understandings of gender, are very much welcome in “The New Cult Of Skincare” that Rihanna is creating.
The hype around gender-neutral, unisex and ‘male’ skincare in recent years has probably fuelled the misconceptions that Rihanna’s looking to address with her cute tweets. ICYMI, skincare was never exclusively for women and a product, even one in the most stereotypically feminine packaging, doesn’t care how the skin it’s going on identifies.
Speaking of the products themselves, while Rihanna didn’t offer too many long glimpses of the products in her demo, we do have a few clues as to what we can expect. Back in 2019, the brand trademarked the names for five products:
- Buff Ryder
- Instant Reset
- Fat Water
- Flash Nap
- Hydra Vizor
We’d bet that Instant Reset, Fat Water and Hydravizor are the products she demoed in her video, a cleanser, hydrating essence and sunscreen respectively.
Fenty Skin launches exclusively on the Fenty Skin website on the 31st of July. FYI, you can sign up for early access to the site’s launch on the 29th of July now.
