During the Covid-19 pandemic, we’ve been really spoiled with some of our fave artists banding together to make and remix some sick slapworthy tunes.
First, we heard news that Lady Gaga was collaborating with K-Pop queens BLACKPINK and potential Hercules star Ariana Grande on her upcoming Chromatica album. Then, on the same fateful day of 1st of May, we were gifted Doja Cat and the Barbie princess of rap Nicki Minaj remix of “Say So,” and Meghan Thee Stallion and Beyoncé (Beyoncé? BEYONCÉ?)’s bombastic remix of “Savage.” And, later this month, we might be gifted with a Dedicated Side B by Carly Rae Jepsen…
Srsly, we are truly blessed with choice rn.
Someone pinch me because the idea of this is too good to be true.
Ariana Grande and Doja Cat have a song together
In an interview that’s part of a Stay At Home series on Apple Music with radio host and DJ Zane Lowe, Syrup‘s ponytail loving fave Ariana Grande shares her current self-isolation playlist and that she’s worked on a song with the cow-suit-dressed rapper, and perhaps the biggest artist rn, Doja Cat.
Throughout the interview, Grande and Lowe touch on the songs and artists she included in her playlist, including Madonna, N’SYNC, Mariah Carey and her recent track with Justin Bieber, “Stuck With U.” Doja Cat’s “Bottom Bitch” is also on there, which prompts a question about how Grande feels about the iconic IG Live rapper. And then it happens: Ariana Grande reveals that her and Doja Cat worked on a song together.
“I love her,” Grande said. “I was able to work with her earlier this year for this song that I want to wait for whenever it’s time again to drop.”
Now, idk about you, but I feel like the time to drop this is right nowww.
“I love her so much,” she added. “I love her personality. I love what she brings to the table musically… She’s just such a breath of fresh air, I think she’s brilliant and so talented.”
And, according to Paper, when Ari sent the song over to Doja at the end of 2019, our Hot Pink queen returned a completed verse to her the very next day. Her impact. Srsly.
“She was like, ‘How many bars can I take? Because this is mad inspiring and I want to just go.'”
And, if this news tells me anything it’s that, not only do we have another potential hottest 100 number one track in the works, but that, once again, I am begging for a Cardi B remix ft. our Fenty queen Riri. Pls.
FYI, I also desperately need Doja Cat to release this unreleased track she demoed on IG Live one night that absolutely slips, slops and slaps.
