Year 12 Might Be Ruined But BTS & Zendaya Have Some Words For The Class Of 2020

For many, the Covid-19 pandemic has made their final year of high school…well, a bit shit really. As of writing, Prime Minister Scott Morrison has limited all unnecessary social gatherings, which means all high school dances have been put on indefinite hold (RIP to my banging satin formal look).

Even worse, those starting year 12 are now tasked with preparing for their HSC exams all while stuck in their homes and with no certainty that they’ll be able to even do it. And, while some universities are considering using folks’ year 11 marks for admission, this whole period has kinda ruined what’s supposed to be the end of one chapter in your life and the dawn of a new one.

But, never fear, your Syrup faves Zendaya, Lady Gaga and BTS are here to save the day with an online graduation celebration for the class of 2020 (that’s you!) called “Dear Class Of 2020.”

What Is Dear Class Of 2020?

According to Variety, Dear Class Of 2020 is an upcoming video graduation ceremony on YouTube Originals featuring the likes of BTS, Lady Gaga, former U.S. President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, Zendaya and Malala Yousafzai

The event will be helmed by the Obamas, who will each give speeches individually and together, before a series of other commencement speeches and musical performances. Some of the people who will be congratulating you for doing your best at school during these cursed times include J-Hope and his fellow BTS bandmates, Lady Gaga and Zendaya.

BTS made history as the first K-Pop group to speak at the United Nations in 2018 with an inspiring speech about youth and how we all deserve an education and to feel loved. So, excuse us while we say we’re already beginning to shed a few tears at what they’re going to say here.

“Dear Class Of 2020” will also feature Alicia Keys, Chloe X Halle, The Try Guys and more, although it’s unclear what their appearances will exactly entail.

It is made in partnership with Michelle Obama’s Reach Higher Initiative, Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation and Malala Yousafzai’s Malala Fund, and aims to celebrate the efforts of teens around the world.

When Is Dear Class Of 2020?

For us Aussies, the multi hour-long event will stream on Sunday 7th June at a cursed 5am AEST.

We do what we must for our boys and Zendaya…

Where Can I Watch Dear Class Of 2020 In Australia?

Dear Class Of 2020 is a YouTube Originals production and will be made available around the world here.
