Noah Centineo Just Pranked Ross Butler’s ‘Animal Crossing’ Island And I Feel For Him, I Really Do

During self-isolation, Animal Crossing has been a refreshingly calm and wholesome escape for a lot of people—including Ross Butler and excluding Noah Centineo. Its daily island chores and lovably adorable villagers is giving us a reason to get up in the morning and socialise. And, for some, the game’s online features are letting them stay connected to their pals and recreate life before the Covid-19 pandemic.

To do that and visit other players’ islands, you need their Dodo code, a code that lets you travel to their island via the airport as long as their gate is open. Given the internet being the internet, Nintendo designed their online play this way so random strangers couldn’t just appear on your island and start ruining your perfectly organised flower garden and egg-themed town.

Alas, for poor Animal Crossing fan and celeb Ross Butler, that may have just been what happened. In a prank that we’re not quite sure is wholesome or the Animal Crossing equivalent of a DDoS attack, Noah Centineo (of To All The Boys and Charlie’s Angels reboot fame) tweeted Butler’s island code to his 1.5 million followers, naturally overwhelming Butler and his little island with a bunch of “new friends.”

The story behind Noah Centineo Brutal Prank on Ross Butler’s Animal Crossing Island

As the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before star wrote in the tweet sharing Butler’s code, Noah Centineo doesn’t have Animal Crossing but knows “Ross Butler does.”

“He’s been super lonely lately and could use some new friends,” he joked. “Go say hi to him for me.”

As Buzzfeed explains, Butler initially thanked Centineo. He shared videos interacting with fans in-game on his Instagram Stories, before he decided to close his island’s gates, admitting that some had tarnished his lovely home.

“Alright guys, I just ended the session,” he said. “Look at all these trampled flowers! Visitors came and they just trampled my garden.”

Truly, a heartbreaking story. If anything, it reminds us not to talk to strangers and let just anyone come onto your island, even if they claim to have a bag full of tarantulas to give you (which Timmy and Tommy buy from you for 8,000 bells a pop #letsgetthisbreadkings).

Outside of this, Noah Centineo and Ross Butler are good friends. The pair have been seen dancing together at a Halloween party, post selfies together and have pranked each other before. That being said, if this happened to me, I’d be mortified, even if it was my best friend.

RIP to Butler’s little mans and his flower garden.
