People In Self-Iso Are Redecorating Their Homes On TikTok And, Truly, Their Minds…

During the self-isolation period, it can be hard work maintaining your mental health and wellbeing. Being unable to see our friends irl, go out or exercise outside of our homes will no doubt take a toll on all of us in the coming months, so it’s important to practice some healthy self-care.

For many, that could be doing some yoga, learning a new skill or beauty routine, or simply, playing Animal Crossing. For me, I’m coming out of this thing with the ability to bake something that’s not a burnt solid brick.

And, for these TikTok users, they’re coming out of it with a whole new house, redecorating and cleaning their homes like a home decor TV show. As one of the TikTok videos say, “positive environment = positive energy.”

Self-isolation TikToks redecorating homes = their minds…they amaze me

To survive the boredom of being stuck in her home, TikTok user Shannaneaves drafted a board of healthy wellbeing activities she could do each day to kill time.

One task involved her redecorating her living room and painting an accent wall. Taping the wall up with geometric shapes, she used a series of pastel and light toned colours to bring her living room to life.

Watching this not only cured my depression spiral but also somehow made me question my productivity this weekend where I binge-watched Euphoria, read, napped and ate hot roast potatoes. Don’t come for me pls.

Shannaneaves is one of many others on TikTok who are filming themselves redecorating their homes, encouraging us all to cancel our non-existent Saturday night plans (rip, lol) and revamp our bedrooms.

And, then there are some who are taking the opportunity to declutter their rooms and reorganise their clothes. Truly, it makes me want to do it for the Gram (well, Tok).
