Tom Holland Is Heading To ‘Uncharted’ Waters In Our First Look At Him As Nathan Drake

If 2020 has been anything, it’s not been a dry season for Tom Holland fans. Earlier this year, Hollandaise-saucers, as I will now call them, were treated with animated magical younger brother Tom Holland—alongside the alleged Worst Chrisdog Tom Holland and 1950s Midwestern North American troubled local Tom Holland. And now, we’re getting our first look at treasure hunting charmster Tom Holland aka Nathan Drake in the Uncharted live action film. Meaning that yes, the Ruben Fleischer and Sony Pictures’s film adaptation of PlayStation’s and Naughty Dog’s Uncharted video game series is officially happening. And, ofc, the news came about as all Tom Holland news does: by him accidentally spilling tea online.

Last night, Naughty Dog, the video game studio behind Uncharted and The Last Of Us, shared a photo featuring Tom Holland—the boy behind Uncharted’s live action lead, Nathan Drake—and Nolan North—the voice actor behind the iconic character. Captioning the post, “find someone who looks at you like Nate looks at Nate,” and tagging the official Uncharted Twitter account, the tweet confirmed two things: 1) that filming was happening and 2) that it was being worked on with its original creators and individuals involved.

Shortly afterwards, our Spider-Man: Far From Home star retweeted the picture, adding, “do you think Sony would be pissed if I spontaneously uploaded a first look picture[?] I got Nolan’s approval so I guess they can’t fire me now.”

Minutes later, Holland gave us our v first glance at him in the Nathan Drake costume, and, minus the age gap, he looks uncanny. The fit looks inspired by Nathan Drake’s in-game costume in Uncharted: Drake’s Deception: a dirty, once white long-sleeve V-neck with the sleeves rolled up to three quarters, layered with a Lara Croft-like shoulder gun holster harness, paired with baggy beige cargo pants, some dark brown, dusty hiking boots, a watch, and a ring pendant necklace. In the pic, Tom Holland also does his best smouldering gaze, surrounded by the debris of an ancient civilisation.

Uncharted stars Tom Holland, Mark Wahlberg (as Victor Sullivan), Sophia Taylor Ali (as Chloe Frazer), Bryan Cranston, Antonio Banderas and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina star Tati Gabrielle. The film is slated to release on the 15th July next year.
