The 🔥 & 👻 Alphets From Halloween 2020

As the age old TikTok sound goes, “In the real world, Halloween is when kids dress up in costumes and beg for candy. In Girl World, Halloween is the one day a year when a girl can dress up like a total slut and no other girls can say anything else about it.” Y’know, like an entire party of Velmas searching for their missing glasses. Anyway, while we’ve all been confronted by our real world fears of white supremacists, a global health crisis, allegedly aliens and more this year, that didn’t stop some of your absolute faves from pulling off some lovably stupid and on-brand Halloween alphets.

Below, find Syrup‘s roundup of the best Halloween costumes from 2020, from Lil Nas X as Nicki Minaj to my K-Pop himbo Wonho as the lovably dumb and stupidly pretty jock in an ’80s teen horror flick.

Doja Cat

Singer, song-writer and memester Doja Cat went as Tyra Banks. Over on her Instagram and TikTok, she recreated some of Banks’s most iconic moments from America’s Next Top Model and her talk show, The Tyra Banks Show.

Orville Peck

For Halloween 2020, Orville Peck went as Dennis, the cowboy-tootin barracuda hitman after SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star in The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie.

Lil Nas X

Back in June, Lil Nas X came out as a Barb, revealing he previously ran a Nicki Minaj stan account. So, fittingly, he went as his queen, The Barbie Princess of Rap herself, Nicki Minaj in her “Superbass” music video outfit.

Gigi Goode

Drag queen and RuPaul’s Drag Race season 12 runner up Gigi Goode went as everyone’s favourite frog puppet pal, Kermit!

Janelle Monae

Janelle Monae revealed two Halloween costumes over the weekend. First, an uncannily Chucky-inspired fit with a striped rainbow long-sleeve tee, “Good Guys” prints on blue overalls, ginger brown wig and matching “Good Guys” hat. Then, like Lizzo, she went as The Fly on Mike Pence’s head.

BYEEE. Lizzo went as a more lo-fi version of The Fly and I am losing it at the pic of her on Pence’s head.

Trixie Mattel

Outside of full-face looks for her and Katya’s Netflix viewing series, I Like To Watch, Trixie Mattel went as the Hamburglar’s Wife, Mary!

Former Monsta X member turned solo K-pop singer-dancer and my 2020 himbo crush, Wonho, went as an NFL player for Halloween. With shoulders that could make coathangers ashamed and an ass that doo doth clapback, all I can say is I am respectfully looking 👀.

Gigi Hadid

Supermodel and recent baby mumma Gigi Hadid went as video game space heroine Zero Suit Samus from Super Smash Bros. and the Super Metroid franchise. I guess we know who she mains.

Bella Hadid

Oh, and before I forget, Gigi’s sister and model Bella Hadid went as Uma Therman as Poison Ivy in Tim Burton’s camp Batman & Robin, y’know, where we all realised we were gay, and it was 100% a serve.

Bretman Rock

For this year’s Halloween, Bretman Rock put on his best Guncle hat and babysat his niece and nephews, incorporating them into some adorable outfits. I’m talking, Rock as Edna from Incredibles 2 and his lil one year old nephew as Jack Jack, and dressed as a giant blowup (and cursed) Olaf doll with his Scorpio niece Cleo as Elsa from Frozen (“I hate you for not letting me be Anna 😡.”).

For Halloween 2020, Halsey covered herself from head to toe in dark blue and became Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride. With a wedding veil, flower crown, aged white silk gloves, long neon blue hair and Tim Burton claymation-style aesthetic, she looked undeadly gorgeous. Earlier that morning, she also sported a gritty makeup look, giving the illusion of a hole carved out of her eye.

Charli XCX

Miss Xbox went as what can only be described as a lo-fi Charli XCX meets The Witches cosplay: penciled on wrinkles, her hair in a messy bun and sporting matching neon acrylic nails and bikini top.

Hunter Schafer

If you’re counting down the days until the fourth Neon Genesis Evangelion film—Neon Genesis Evangelion 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon A Time, in Japanese theatres on the 23rd of January 2021—then know you’re not alone. For Halloween, model and Euphoria star Hunter Schafer debuted a sickening Rei Ayanami inspired costume on her Instagram Story.

Barbie Ferreira

Schafer’s co-star and fellow model Barbie Ferreira went out as, in her words, “last minute” Shego from Kim Possible

Priyanka & Lemon

Canada’s Drag Race’s winner and co-Syrup fave Priyanka and Lemon went goofy with their Halloween costumes this year, and looked mighty tasty. The pair and post-show BFFs dressed up as a matching pair of tomato sauce and mustard.

Jaida Essence Hall

RuPaul’s Drag Race season 12 winner Jaida Essence Hall proved she’s our reigning queen of 2020 and beyond with a homage to Aaliyah Haughton as Akasha from Queen of the Damned

Megan Thee Stallion

Everyone’s favourite anime-loving rapper and Hottie, Megan Thee Stallion, went out as the gambling-addicted protagonist of the anime Kakegurui, Yumeko.

Lance Aguas

16-year-old internet makeup artist Lance Aguas went as his own take on Spider-Man for Halloween this year, Lance Parker. Tom Holland who?

Rowi Singh

Syrup fave and ~incredible~ MUA Rowi Singh went as a glam version of Ursula from The Little Mermaid

Aj Clementine

Earlier this month, Syrup fave and stunner Aj Clementine and her boyfriend went as Daphne and Fred from Scooby Doo

Rico Nasty

For Halloween 2020, Rico Nasty went as a genderbent version of The Joker.
